I have been talking about writing my first book for years! Last year was the year I planned to finally finish my book and get it published, yet something always came up that took my attention off the book writing and on to something else.
I have the passion. I have the drive. I have written countless personal stories from lived experiences where I offer tips and strategies on how to get unstuck and come alive in your personal and professional life, yet tackling a project like writing a book requires more than a longing, it commands an unwavering commitment, laser focus, and a host of action steps to arrive at a meaningful outcome.
As you reflect on the many months that have passed in your life and work, were they everything you imagined them to be?
Are you ready for a new you, or will your days, weeks, months, and years to come be mostly a repeat of the last?
To follow are some questions to help you get started. Take a few moments to answer them honestly:
What obstacles got in your way?_______________________________________________
What challenges tripped you up?_______________________________________________
What were your greatest disappointments?_______________________________________
Did you uncover or discover new skills, gifts, talents, or strengths?_____________________
How did you become aware of them?____________________________________________
Did you have any "ah ha" moments (moments when you had a realization, new insight, or where something clicked for you)?______________________________________________
What experiences made you come alive?________________________________________
Ray Kroc, Founder of McDonald's Corporation, says, "When you're green you're growing, when you're ripe you rot." We can always find ways to grow. Use the wisdom you gained from your past to help you flourish in the days, weeks, months, and years to come and make every moment matter.
To move forward, identify what has worked for you and what has not so that you can make the necessary change, where and when possible, to get you where you want to go.
What areas of your life do you want to improve on personally and professionally?________
What obstacles do you want to move beyond?____________________________________ What changes do you need to make to have more balance in your life?_________________
Which experiences stretched you?_____________________________________________
How are you better because of what you went through?_____________________________
You are the author of your life. Write the story you would want to read.
Come alive and thrive!
